Meet Dr. F.J. Schofield
Dr. F.J. Schofield: Dr. F.J. Schofield was born in Holland, Michigan and raised in Phoenix, Arizona. His father was a world-renowned chiropractor and his mother was a nutritionist and herbalist. Together, they taught him the importance of a holistic and drug-free lifestyle. Dr. F.J. grew up loving sports and excelling in tennis, leading him to attend Florida Atlantic University on a tennis scholarship.
He was having a very successful freshmen year when he went back to hit an overhead and he remembers feeling a “pop” in his back. The pain started gradually, he was able to finish the match, but by the end of that day he was in agonizing pain. The pain would not go away. He tried physical therapy, electric stimulation, ultrasound, and stretches, but nothing worked. He could not sleep, play tennis, or pay attention in class. He then went home for the summer and his father examined his back. After a few gentle adjustments within a few days, Dr. F.J. was pain free. He had never really appreciated chiropractic health until that moment. It was at this moment that he decided to become a chiropractor and help people the way his parents did.
Dr. F.J. would continue playing tennis at Florida Atlantic University for another 3 years, excelling both on and off the court. He earned all-conference honors several times for his performance on the court and was selected as the Male Student-Athlete Scholar of the Year his senior year, an award that is only given to one student-athlete each year. He graduated with honors from FAU with a Bachelor’s Degree in Biological Sciences Pre-Professional. He then coached tennis in his father’s hometown of Cape Town, South Africa for 6 months before he attended Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa. At Palmer, Dr. F.J. was the captain of the rugby team, which finished top 15 in the nation. He also studied NUCCA, The Pettibon System, and S.O.T. (Sacro Occipital Technique).
At Palmer, Dr. F.J. met his future wife Korie Gardner. After graduating, he worked for his father for a year in Phoenix at Atlas Chiropractic. During this time, he learned the most advanced techniques in correcting the structural biomechanics of the spine. He loved the Midwest, the four seasons and the friendly people. So he and his wife, Dr. Korie, decided to start their own practice in her hometown of West Bend, WI.
Since opening their practice, he has earned certificates in Orthospinology (Upper Cervical and Atlas Chiropractic Technique), The Biomechanics of Low Speed Impacts & Injury Mechanisms, and Whiplash & Brain Injury Traumatology. Dr. F.J. Schofield is passionate about Upper Cervical Chiropractic and helping the most chronic and difficult neurological cases. In his free time, Dr. F.J. enjoys playing with his son, running and reading.
