The new high fat and no-carb diet, also known as the “Keto Diet”, is very popular and it will help you lose weight, but is it healthy?

One aspect of this diet is that your liver runs on glucose, which comes from carbs. If you are not eating and drinking carbs, then it is very difficult for your liver to function properly.

Not only are you starving your liver of its main fuel source, but you are also over working it with a diet loaded with fat.

Many times, this will lead to high blood pressure, fatigue, different types of arthritis and many other problems.

If you want to cut grains out of your diet, that’s fine… But, please continue to eat and drink fruits and vegetables. Fruits and vegetables will fuel your liver. Then, make healthy fats about 15-30% of your diet, and no more than that.

The liver is incredibly important for a variety of reasons, so please make sure you give it the right fuel and don’t overwork it.
